Lancashire's new combined county authority (CCA) has held its first meeting.

Councillor Phillippa Williamson, leader of Lancashire County Council, was voted in as the chairman of the CCA, and Cllr Phil Riley, leader of Blackburn with Darwen Council, was voted in as the vice-chairman.

Other areas discussed during the meeting included governance arrangements for the CCA as well as its' upcoming work plan.

The CCA is set to address years of historically low investment in the area and provide a platform for accelerated growth. It will provide a single body for the whole of the county to champion its interests, deliver on local priorities and provide greater local accountability and decision-making powers. In partnership with business and public service providers,  it will give Lancashire a stronger voice on the regional and national stage, ensuring greater benefit from funding and other opportunities. Find out more about what was discussed at the meeting and view a recording of the meeting

The next meeting of the CCA is scheduled to be held on Tuesday 15 April 2025 at 2pm at County Hall, Preston.
